Safety inspections are a small process that every company has to go through, but they are important. The inspections help to identify any potential hazards that could happen in a workplace as well as showing who out of your employees are taking their responsibility of health and safety seriously.
Inspections tend to happen every three months, this is something that will be arranged differently for every company, and some might even carry out inspections more than that. As well as this your management may carry out an inspection after an accident, a dangerous occurrence or if a disease has started to get past around basically anything that causes a change in working conditions. Inspections also include looking at paperwork that are linked with the Health and Safety Legislation i.e. risk assessments and testing certificates for any equipment.
Some safety representatives might choose to carry out the inspection and then meet with the management afterwards, some on the other hand might choose to carry out the inspection with the employee safety advisor. Either way if you are management you have the right to be there whilst the inspection is under way. When a company operates in shifts then there should be inspections carried out at different times and something that isn't a problem in the day, could cause a problem in the evening.
